Dr Gary Midgley Trained as a scientist, Gary is currently a senior lecturer in Chemistry at Huddersfield University. However, he has taken courses in music History with the composer Christopher Headington at Oxford University and composition at Leeds University. As a pianist, he participated in a master class led by Philip Fowke and has acted mainly as an accompanist for singers in a wide range of repertoire. He has given talks to recorded music societies for many years and has a particular, though not exclusive interest in 20th century music. Gary has made a thorough study of the life and compositions of Michael Tippett.
